Hub Software Engineering was founded in 2009 by I.T.professionals with many decades experience bringing technically innovative and powerful solutions to leading, blue chip companies in the oil, shipping, retail and service industries including Shell, BP, Tesco, IBM etc.

We have worked very hard to distill our business and enterprise system development skills to ensure all our clients benefit from our experience in our delivery of world-class solutions .

Our proven track record in this area is second-to-none and our innovative solutions have enabled significant improvements in complex business areas including port and bunker cost management, ship performance, demurrage, streamlined data flows with partners and unlocking the value of systems.

Our Mission

We understand the importance of the end-to-end commercial lifecycle of ship chartering, operations and performance measurement and we can help you whether it be modifying your existing systems or embarking on a new-build system. Critically we understand the ramifications of supporting systems onboard ships as well as in multiple office locations across the globe.

Our purpose is to bring essential functionality to our clients based on core products where we have distilled the power of multiple overweight packaged solutions into a comprehensive, cost-effective solution.

Meet the Team

Tim Bridges - Managing Director

Tim has spent the whole of his professional career in the IT industry developing and managing leading-edge systems for multi-national companies. Majoring on marine based solutions Tim spent over 15 years with Shell and 8 years with BP. During this time Tim was responsible for the development and implementation of both Shell’s and BP’s end-to-end chartering, operations, demurrage, economics and back-office systems.

With this background Tim brings to HubSE a unique blend of industry knowledge and the experience essential to deliver performant global applications in a practical yet comprehensive way.

Scott Waye - Technical Director

Scott Waye is an IT professional who started working for blue chip companies with ICL & Fujitsu in 1992. He has broad experience over in a broad range of sectors including shipping with BP Shipping, retail with Tesco’s online shopping system, and banking with Morgan Stanley’s interest rates trading system.

HubSE draws on Scott’s experience of diverse large interconnected systems to deliver its own systems which are efficient, robust and future proof. Scott still has a passion for technology and combined with a strong sense of security the future of HubSE’s systems is in safe hands.

Phil Stalley - Director

Phil Stalley is a regular speaker at training seminars and industry conferences specialising in laytime, demurrage, freight, deviation and shipping expenses incurred under the transportation of oil and oil trading contracts. Phil also provides in house training, advice and consultancy to the oil and shipping industry.

Prior to joining HubSE Phil was head of BP’s Demurrage Team handling the negotiation and settlement of trading and charter party demurrage claims in support of BP’s oil trading activities. Responsibilities there included freight, deviation and ancillary expenses incurred under the charter party. Whilst at BP Phil was a major contributor to the drafting of BPVOY4 and BP’s oil trading terms.

Hannah Allen - Business Support Analyst

Hannah joined us in September 2019 straight from maternity leave following the birth of her second daughter. Hannah comes from a varied educational and professional background. Having studied Psychology at both Undergraduate and Master’s degree level, she enjoyed a successful and very interesting career within the substance misuse field: starting as a volunteer she progressed to be part of the senior management team. Here, she developed a keen interest in data analysis and project management. Following successful completion of a Leadership and Management Diploma, Hannah went on to work as a Business Analyst within the Open University’s commercial business: Open University Worldwide. Here, Hannah gained further qualifications and professional experience in areas such as project management (APMP certification), CRM administration (Salesforce), data extraction and analysis (including basic level SQL) and much more. Hannah works part-time with us and spends the rest of her time looking after her young family.
